Choice Homes breaks ground with FKG Group as builder for northern Gold Coast apartment complex
Multi-award-winning developer and builder Choice Homes’ $100 million Oakey Bay Apartments complex at Coomera has broken ground, following the appointment of FKG Group to construct the first stage and strong pre-sales.
The innovative three-tower project, within the Coomera Marine Precinct, is poised to set a new benchmark for the property market with the development offering an extensive suite of boutique residences and amenities in the burgeoning northern Gold Coast.
Priced from $572,000 they have been an instant success with 90% of the initial Riverside Tower under contract from local and interstate buyers.
Construction of the first stage, which will comprise 54 apartments, has begun and is expected to be completed by mid-2023.
Choice Homes Group’s, Director Troy Knight says the company had engaged with several builders in a rigorous selection process which eventually identified FKG Group as the ideal contractor to deliver the best possible outcome for the project.
“Choice has extensive experience building smaller-scale apartment projects, which have won awards, but thought it best to engage a well-reputed leading contractor for something of this size as it will be the largest in the area,” says Mr Knight.
“FKG have a long history in the industry and are known for delivering outstanding building and engineering projects across Queensland, NSW, and the Northern Territory, so are well equipped to deliver what we’re after.
“We are confident in our selection and are pleased to work with FKG Group to build Oakey Bay Apartments and help bring more housing stock to the area to meet the demand for homes in the northern end of the Coast.”
According to a recent report by Urbis, demand for homes, including high-density accommodation, has outstripped the existing property market.
The report identifies a shortage of land has led to a surge in apartment sales across the Gold Coast of up to 97 per cent in 2021, reinforcing the decision for the location and timing of the project.
Building will take place in three stages, creating over 167 apartments and providing a boost to employment in the region for many trades, suppliers, and local businesses for the next three to four years.
Oakey Bay offers a range of 2- and 3-bedroom apartments averaging 110sqm in size and will be set amid a resort-style environment that includes two swimming pools, a tennis court, BBQ, and gym facilities on site.
Choice Homes is a leading family-owned and operated building company, which has earned a reputation for building quality homes for close to three decades.
No stranger to apartment projects, Choice Homes won the 2018 Housing Industry Association Apartment Complex of the Year award for its 101 Pohlman Street development in Southport.
