The northern Gold Coast is an affordable, ‘highly developed urban community’ that has something for everyone
The northern Gold Coast has been one of the fastest growing regions in our country for many years.
We’ve witnessed incredible change; from the former open spaces where cattle grazed, to a now highly developed urban community which so many young families are choosing to call home.
Today we have some of the best facilities in the city, as well as the state of the art $80m Pimpama Sports Hub about to start construction. Boasting a diverse landscape and character, the region offers a wide range of lifestyle options.
About 170,000 people now live north of the Coomera River in an area that has something for everyone – from affordable housing close to schools and transport, to the large rural allotments loved by so many of our city’s first residents. The cane fields in the east and the villages of Jacobs Well and Cabbage Tree Point are unique to our city and a popular destination for tourists and fishermen.
The Coomera Town Centre, the Pimpama City Centre and the Ormeau Village have all opened for business in the last 12 months providing convenient shopping and improved services for the region. Finally, residents can enjoy a movie without having to take a 30 minute drive!
For people making the northern Gold Coast home, its suburbs are perfectly located, half way between Brisbane and Surfers Paradise. The Yatala Enterprise Area is expected to deliver 40,000 jobs for locals within the next decade and create one of the best industrial hubs in the country.
Families have the choice of many outstanding public and private schools close by and there’s a strong focus on weekend sport with amazing volunteer parent bodies devoting much of their free time to local clubs.
After one of the most prolonged periods of growth, I’m always happy to see that strong community values and a heart for looking out for each other has been maintained.
The biggest challenge for the future is getting our share of State and Federal funding for the upgrade of the M1 and the delivery of the second north-south corridor, “The Coomera Connector”, so that our road networks continue to flow. We await the Government’s Business Case, but to do nothing is simply not an option.
