We uncover three spots to go out and discover in and around Ipswich
Three terrific options to check out before the Christmas break
So we thought now that there’s more than 190,000 of us calling Ipswich home, it would be great to share some of our favourite spots to get out and about, especially now with Christmas holidays are just around the corner.
If you’re Ipswich born and bred, these won’t be new, but sometimes what is once old is new again especially when you share the experience of our amazing city with someone new.

Have a splash at Orion Lagoon
The $10.3 million water park was named after the nearby Orion Springfield Central shopping centre to reflect a link between a leisurely lifestyle of swimming, shopping and fine dining.
Mayor Paul Pisasale welcomed the sponsorship agreement with Mirvac.
“We couldn’t be more proud of Orion Lagoon and I want to thank Mirvac for their ongoing support,” Cr Pisasale said.
“Orion Lagoon is equal in size to the famed beach at South Bank and one of the largest outdoor recreation facilities of its kind anywhere in Australia.
“This is a huge achievement for the city and is expected to bring 100,000 visitors to Ipswich each year which will provide a tremendous boost for local businesses. More info from the Queensland Times HERE.

We’ve included a pic of the tower thanks to the Courier Mail and a map on how to easily get there, so all that’s really missing is you and your exploration team!
Thanks to Google maps here’s an easy way to find the best view in town.
Out with the old and in with the new Cineplex signs up for Redbank Plaza
Cineplex Australia will takeover the lease from Reading at Redbank Plaza and plans a $4 million refurbishment for the 15-year-old cinemas.
The cinema will be extended an extra 150sqm to make way for a licensed cafe lounge and the foyer will be refurbished with a new candy bar. The extensive refurbishment also includes new seats, carpets, screens and facilities.
Cineplex manager Sam Catalano said the works would also deliver an upmarket option with Queensland’s largest deluxe auditorium with reclining seats, alcohol and hot food service.
“We are ecstatic to be refurbishing the current site and bringing our family friendly and affordable cinemas to Ipswich,” Mr Catalano said. More info from The Queensland Times HERE.
